A: Craig’s Maintenance Services covers the entire Greater Wellington Region, including Wellington City, the Hutt Valley (Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt), Porirua, and the Kāpiti Coast.
Q: How do I book a job or get a quote?
A: The best way is to fill out the contact form on our website. We can discuss your needs, schedule a time for smaller jobs, or arrange a site visit to provide a quote for larger projects.
Q: Can you handle plumbing and electrical work?
A: Craig can perform minor plumbing repairs (like fixing dripping taps or blocked sinks) and minor electrical work (like replacing light bulbs or light fittings). For any work that requires certification under the NZ Building Code, he partners with a trusted network of certified builders, plumbers and electricians to ensure the job is professionally completed and signed off for full compliance.
Q: What are your rates?
A: We believe in transparent pricing. We have a standard hourly rate plus a call-out fee. For larger projects, we provide detailed written quotes. Please visit our Rates Page by clicking above for a full breakdown. When a third-party is required to sign off a job, you will be advised of costs prior to this.

Q: Can you help my rental property meet the Healthy Homes Standards?
A: Absolutely. We provide Healthy Homes Standard compliance support, including installing draught seals, fitting window latches, checking extractor fans, and identifying moisture concerns to help you meet your legal obligations as a landlord.
Q: Do you handle urgent end-of-tenancy repairs?
A: Yes. We offer a comprehensive end-of-tenancy and pre-inspection service to get your property ready for new tenants quickly. This includes patching walls, painting, fixing fixtures, and adjusting doors to minimise your vacancy periods.
Q: Are you familiar with the requirements for rental property smoke alarms?
A: Yes. We provide full smoke alarm installation and testing services for rentals, including fitting long-life photoelectric alarms and ensuring they are correctly placed according to New Zealand’s tenancy regulations.
Q: How do you ensure your work is compliant for rental properties?
A: With decades of experience working with landlords, we understand the importance of compliance. All work is done to meet or exceed the NZ Building Code. For prescribed electrical or plumbing work, we coordinate with our certified trade partners to ensure everything is officially signed off and legally compliant.

Q: I just have a small list of odd jobs. Is any job too small?
A: No job is too small. We are happy to tackle your entire to-do list, from a single squeaky door to a long list of minor general home repairs.
Q: Can you build a custom cat enclosure (catio)?
A: Yes! This is one of our specialty services. We can design and build custom catios and pet encampments to keep your furry family members safe and happy in a space that suits your property.
Q: Do you assemble flat-pack furniture?
A: We certainly do. We offer a fast and professional flat-pack furniture assembly service, saving you the time and frustration of confusing instructions and leftover parts.
Q: What is included in your seasonal maintenance checks
A: Our proactive seasonal maintenance checks are designed to catch small issues before they become big problems. This can include checking window and door seals for draughts, clearing gutters, testing smoke alarms, and visually inspecting your exterior for weather-related wear and tear.
For SuperGold Cardholders
Q: How does the SuperGold discount work?
A: We proudly offer discounted labour rates of 5% on all our labour (obviously excluding materials & stock) for handyman and construction services for SuperGold cardholders. Please mention you are a cardholder when you book the job.
Q: What kind of home safety modifications can you install
A: We can install a wide range of home safety modifications to help you live more safely and independently. This commonly includes installing grab rails in bathrooms and hallways, non-slip strips on steps, and secure window stays.
Q: I find it hard to do small tasks like changing lightbulbs. Can you help?
A: Of course. We provide ongoing trusted support for seniors and are happy to help with all those small but important tasks, such as changing hard-to-reach light bulbs, adjusting stiff doors or drawers, and testing smoke alarms.
Q: My family helps manage my affairs. Can you communicate with them about the job?
A: Yes. We are happy to liaise with family members or carers as needed. We believe in clear, respectful communication and will ensure everyone is kept informed throughout the process.
